Rangers get revenge! (b/p)
I just wanted to say how great it is that rangers are finally wanted agian, thanks to the b/p builds that are out recently. I was finally able to find a group and complete the new underworld. (even though all I got was 1 ecto)

Good to hear your feeling the love. Me I just formed my ranger and havent ever really felt any ranger hate, but.. I understand it exists. As far as only getting an ecto, hey that aint bad, you know the old adage 'better than a poke in the eye....' Beast Masters made out quite well in the latest update as well if I understand correctley, so that should lead to yet more Ranger love...woot.

Wanted in ToPK that is. Still nobody really appreciates the value of a good interrupt in missions like THK (Giant Stomp anybody?)

lol... I b/p'd through THK w/ 6 rangers. 1 n/me orders & a E/Mo spamming prot...
we had 1 death, a ranger went outside of the base and attacked some mursaat solo and got wooped pretty fast.
but otherwise we'de go to the extension areas and shoot down the mursaat before they reached out gates even.. rangers ftw.

It's a shame really. My ranger has never been a trapper and that is still what is wanted for FoW and UW. But she has gone out Queen hunting several times as well as escorting friends through missions (and the Desert) and her skills seem to be welcomed now.

Rangers are so useful, for Traps, Beasts, and interupt, just no one knows the ultimate power within

The only ranger hate I see is the one that is caused by people using the same builds over and over and over. But then this applies to all classes. The sad thing is, really in my opinion, that now with B/P droves of rangers who know nothing will appear in places where they really don't do anything...
Example: Lets barrage that single aatxe! Lets barrage those Shielded Smites. Etc...

Its a build where a bunch of rangers spam Barrage caworing behind their pets that take most of the pain. Then an MM will raise Minions and an Orders necro will power them up... etc...

Rangers are one of the most balanced professions in the game and certainly one of the easiest to proceed through the game with. They can heal themselves, they can heal their party. they have more defensive and avoidance stances than warriors and their armor packs good protection and elemental bonuses. Their damage is consistent and higher than the potential damage of a sword warrior, that is going strictly by base weapon damage before anyone jumps my case.
Rangers are just a very well balanced profession and can go well with almost any secondary.

so true... I don't really like rangers until the later missions where they are extra useful (winter anyone?). The same could be said for necros too I guess, although WoB is quite useful for early missions. The eles become less useful at the end, except for the very last missions after ember light, and that is only if you have a ranger with winter.

Priceless... and true :P I still say Barrage isn't much of an elite... but then again people seem to gravitate towards number generators not utilities :P

In the right circumstances, Barrage can rock! When used against a single foe, it's not much, but against a group - watch out. Now, throw in a vampiric bow on top of that, and you've got yourself some self healing going on, too. I've got a 4:1 shortbow that I use. With Barrage, against a mob of 5 targets, that turns it into a 20:1 bow for that shot! That extra damage really can add up quick.
As far as it goes tho, I don't think Rangers have ever had too much of a problem getting into groups (I never have). It's just that most groups (balanced) will only want 1 ranger in it. It is still the Mesmers that are getting no love. (silly non-mesmer appreciating fools!)

Being a mesmer I can value other classes being so undervalued myself. I always try to bring a ranger into the group. The type of ranger depends purely on the purpose. If it's a certain mission. Then i'll get a few trappers, if it's farming then it's blah blah blah. You get the picture.

As long as you know the build for the area there is never any ranger hate. Get informed and you will get groups quickly.

I played a trap/interrupt ranger through almost all of PvE and never had any trouble getting into groups. In the earlier missions, people tend to take whoever they can get so long as there's a monk involved, and in the later missions it seems like people can appreciate a good ranger.
Really, I had the easiest time playing through the game with my ranger. I could screw over physical damage dealers with my traps, and I could screw over casters just as well with my interrupts. So I was causing a fair bit of damage to the baddies, while at the same time mitigating the damage that my party members were taking. And at 15 Wilderness Survival, I could pop Troll Unguent for +10 regen if I started to take some hits. Not since playing through with my fire ele before the AI update have I felt like such a badass as I did while taking my ranger through the PvE missions.
